Final 2009-10 BBR Rankings
Posted by Neil Paine on June 18, 2010
Congratulations to the Lakers, they outlasted the Celtics in a very gritty, physical Game 7... They deserve to be champions after surviving that test. Also, congrats to the Celtics, whom no one thought would even make it to within a game of a championship. Both teams left it all on the floor here, and as an NBA fan that's all you can ask for. It was a great season, everybody, thanks in large part to our loyal readers and commenters. We couldn't do what we do without your support.
As a token of our appreciation, here are the final 2010 BBR Rankings:

Only one question remains: how long before we're allowed to shift into rampant, full-scale LeBron James free agent speculation mode? Is today too soon? Bring on the 2011 season!

And thanks to b-r.com for the great site that just keeps getting better.
Neil, when's the last time a Game 7 had such poor shooting?
Or the last time the winning team (G7 or any closeout win) shot as badly?
LA : .325 FG , .676 FT, 4-20 from the arc -- TS% .418

I'll have to post on that later this afternoon, along with the Final Kobe-LeBron tally.

Nitpicking again, but I'm pretty sure that should be 'who' instead of 'whom'.

"Whom" cares? Seriously, I write a piece making a case for Kobe being better than Magic, and this is the thanks I get?

Hi Neil,
I was wondering if you could do a little analysis on the large free throw disparity as compared to shots attempts at the rim, or any other quantifiable measure of "aggressive play". It sure seemed like the Celtics were matching the aggression of the Lakers, but were playing from behind against small to heavy free throw disadvantages, particularly in the last three games of the NBA Finals.

Neil, I'd also like to see an examination of when the last time a shooter as good as Allen shot so poorly in a finals series. This wasn't the worst I've ever seen a good scorer perform in a Finals, but it may be the most wide open shots I've ever seen an all-time great shooter miss in one stretch. If he had shot his normal percentage for this series on wide open shots...

You know what, I think I'm going to roll these questions up into a Mega Mailbag...

The SportsNeil? Neil Simmons? Bill Paine? We can make this work!

Yup... These are my readers.

I'm glad to see a BBR rankings even after the finals. Thank you for doing this every week; I'm looking forward to it again next year.
To add to the mailbag; any chance Neil can analyse the rate that sports analysts are right or wrong in predicting outcomes?
