Of the six players they used with zero games of NBA experience, four had come from the ABA.

That said there are some pretty strong teams of old guys out there including a few conference finalists as well.

Wouldn't a better approach to expressing the concept of team experience be to weight individual players' past experience by the reference season's actual minutes played? Having various éminences grises riding the pines might be good for mentoring and all that, but that is a different concept than what I think you are trying to get at.
