When we were kids here in the Philippines, my twin brother and I devised so many simulated basketball games. They ranged from shoebox basketball to toy basketball games. We invented our players and leagues based on fictitious childhood characters such as the "Horse" brothers. As we grew older we read about basketball simulated basketball games available in the States like Strat-o-Matic Basketball. Our father made occasional trips to the States, but never bought us the games we asked of him. Thus, we were forced to improvise, until I was able to develop a basketball game using a single die. Our game as we devised can generate fairly credible statistics. Right now we are about to start our 22nd season (we still play that game even as adult men). My teams have won 15 championships to his six in the 21 seasons contested thus far.

I used to play a similar basketball dice game. In retrospect, I really don't know how I kept myself entertained by such a simple, ultimately boring game. Love of the game, I guess...
