Generally speaking metrics are beginning to show that players perform more consistently from season to season in basketball (at least NBA basketball), so a stunning turnaround is almost impossible without a major personnel change (though of course due to the nature of the sport 1 player can constitute a major personnel change).

Well, Cleveland is going to have more open threes than anyone this year. With defenses doubling down on Shaq and/or LeBron, they're not going to cheat off either of those guys. Mo Williams, Moon, West, and Parker are going to get a ridiculous amount of open threes. I really like adding Leon Powe for hustle and rebounding. And Big Z will have an easier time against second teams. Cleveland is looking pretty, preeeetty, preeeeeetty good this year.

Boston on the other hand doesn't need to change much. They just need to sharpen the system they already have and make sure KG is ready to rumble.

I really don't give Orlando much of a chance to take the conference, as much as I like Superman and anyone named Van Gundy.

I'm sure nobody had the Rays winning the AL in 2008 (baseball reference here), but they did nonetheless. Washington may be a sleeper. New York, well, I don't have them winning 40 games.

It'll be Cleveland, Boston, or Orlando in the Finals. None of the other teams in the east are even nearly as good as those three. I think Cleveland will win it all.

Hopefully it all pans out and Boston beats them anyway. Go Cs!
