Conclusions? They both left roles they were better suited for and went to roles they're not a terrific fit in. Ariza is much better at his old role (and Artest's current one) than Artest is. Artest is much better at his old role (and Ariza's current one) than Ariza is.

In other words, everything we thought was true last summer... Turned out to be true.

Artest move a positive for Lakers -- and the best is yet to come

    Story Highlights
Stats don't support claim that Ron Artest is worse fit for Lakers than Trevor Ariza
Artest is taking fewer shots and has cut down on turnovers in first season in L.A.
The Lakers will get a big payoff from the physical forward in grind-it-out playoffs

    I smell a storm a brewing

I think Ariza in HOU should get an incomplete. He was acquired for his skill set, which is maximized in systems with at least one big man. Since Yao has been out all year I don't think its fair to judge Ariza on what's happened this year.

  4. Alex Says:

Of course its fair, we already know what Ariza can do in a limited role now we know how he performs as a forced 1st option. How do his stats look alongside Kevin Martin? Im sure they are much closer to what he did in La. Overall Id say Ariza is the better player regardless. Championship caliber role players are more valuable than go to guys who are so inefficient that they cant lead you anywhere worth mentioning
