Layups: Try the Medal Finder at SR’s Olympics Site

Posted by Justin Kubatko on December 17, 2009

With the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games right around the corner, I have been spending some time working on SR's Olympics site. That said, today I would like to announce the launch of SR's Olympic Medal Finder. Try it out and let us know what you think. (To make this post basketball-related, here is a list of the most-decorated basketball players in Olympic history.)

There's a problem with the sort-fields once in the results page. Using the link above or finding the same data for men's or women's basketball individually, clicking on "Gold" sorts the most gold-medals at the top for some, but others (Dwight Howard, Michael Redd, and others on the Redeem Team included), they are banished to the second page behind people with 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 2 Bronze on the first page.

Clicking the headers should re-sort the entire field, but instead, it only re-orders that page and makes the user click through the others yet.

Jared, at the top of the table it reads:

"Click on column headers to sort (within this table)"

  3. Jared Ras Says:

I realize that, but it should redraw the table to include the other pages. You don't have to fix it since people can go back and sort all by a different field, but I don't see any use for sorting the table on a page-by-page basis as opposed to overall.
